Dr Miriam O'Connor
Dr Miriam O’Connor lived and worked in Papua New Guinea since 2002, previously having worked in Melbourne at the Royal Women’s Hospital and in General O&G Private Practice. Her professional interests revolve around complex obstetrics, pre-invasive cervical disease and teaching clinical obstetrics. The move to PNG saw her focus on Public Health and S&RH Education for health workers in resource poor settings, working as an Adviser to the PNG National Department of Health and, more recently, as Director of the PNG National Reproductive Health Training Unit that delivered Maternal and Neonatal CPD opportunities to multiple cadres of health workers across PNG. She has provided consultancy services in relation to S&RH in a developing world context for DFAT, UN agencies, WHO, World Bank and several NGOs in Asia and the Pacific. Miriam now lives in Australia.
